Marcy Lamberson |
Marcy Lamberson is a full time lampwork glass artist and teacher whose happy and whimsical view of life is often reflected in her whimsical glass sculptural beads.
She counts herself lucky to have been chosen to have some of her glass art brought up into outer space by NASA space shuttles, the Atlantis and the Endeavour.
Marcy started her art career by painting watercolors. Loving the layered color aspect as well as the color mixing, it seemed like the perfect segue. She was excited about the thought of making encased delicate floral beads Somehow, a very different side of her personality came out in this glass art form...quirky people, animals, and forms of nature. It’s not uncommon for her to look at interesting people and think, “Oh, they would make such a great bead”.
Marcy’s other love besides making glass beads is teaching glass artists. She teaches private lessons in her home studio which is surrounded on three sides by windows overlooking her garden and bird feeders. You’ll see little birds and creatures creep into her work. Marcy teaches sculptural glass nationally as well.
Writing the Artist Spotlight feature for the International Society of Glass Beadmakers’ quarterly magazine, “Glass Bead” is always a pleasure. She also served as the South Eastern Regional Director for the ISGB, is a past President of Southern Flames, the Atlanta ISGB Chapter, and is currently their Board of Directors’ Advisor.
Marcy has taught for the International Society of Glass Beadmakers and presented at their international conference, the Gathering. She also teaches regularly at FlameTree Glass in Roswell , GA and Blue Moon Glassworks in Austin , TX
She is on Twitter under StudioMarcy and you can friend her on Facebook under Marcy Lamberson.
